Anna Marshall becomes executive director

Will build on organization’s 40-year history and innovation in social services

June 1, 2020

Northwest Resource Associates is proud to announce that Anna Marshall has taken over the executive director position recently vacated by the retiring Bob Hunner. A 20-year veteran and recognized leader in the nonprofit sector, Anna has already been with Northwest Resource Associates, a nonprofit social services agency, for six years, serving as the director of digital media for the national AdoptUSKids project.

Within the nonprofit sector, Anna has been recognized for vision, innovation, and leadership in communications. She is an expert marketer and team builder, with deep experience in technology development, user experience, and program administration. Those who work with her describe Anna as a collaborative leader and creative problem solver who always asks, “What’s the goal? And how do we know this is the best way to achieve it?”

Anna will build on the organization’s 40-year history and reputation for innovation and excellent customer service earned under founding executive director Bob Hunner, whose foresight led Northwest Resource Associates to pioneer the use of technology in child welfare. In 1988 the agency was the first adoption exchange to place its services online.

Today the agency operates leading-edge programs in foster care, adoption, evaluation, and training. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the agency has additional offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla, Alaska and in Portland, Oregon. Its programs include AdoptUSKids photolisting and websites, Alaska Center for Resource Families, the Northwest Adoption Exchange, Oregon Adoption Resource Exchange, and Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center.

As executive director, Anna is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, and management of the organization and for supporting its programs and, in turn, the partners, children, and families they serve. Anna will report directly to the board of directors.
